This information assumes you are asking about Florida appraisers only...

After completing the 75 appraisal course, the student must apply to the DBPR to become a registered trainee appraiser. Application fee is $277. The registered trainee appraiser then must work under the supervision of a licensed appraiser for 2500 hours over a 24 month period The hours and the work must be logged for verification to the DBPR. The trainee appraiser is paid either by fee or by salary, depending on the employer. After completing the 2500 hours, the trainee who wishes to become a certified residential appraiser must apply to the DBPR for that license, complete an additional 45 hour course, and pass the certified residential appraiser exam. The new licensee can then offer appraisal services independently or continue to work for another appraisal company.

Thanks for posting your question in our forum. I hope you found this information helpful.

Brett

After I take the course will you guys help with job placement?
What can I expect to be paid on average as an appraisal apprentice?
Are there any more requirements for being a licensed appraiser (college degree, etc)?
Once I am ready for the license, do I take the final 45 hour course with you or the DBPR?
Thank you

After I take the course will you guys help with job placement? Our school does not provide placement services, but we are happy to pass along information from appraisal firms who call us looking for new staff members.

What can I expect to be paid on average as an appraisal apprentice? Typically, you will be paid a percentage of the appraisal fee. It might be 35-45% to start until you are more self-sufficient, then may go up from that.

Are there any more requirements for being a licensed appraiser (college degree, etc)? To become a registered trainee appraiser, you need only a high school diploma. To go to the next level (certified residential appraiser), you must meet experience requirements prescribed by the Appraisal Board, and you need an associate’s degree, or certain prescribed courses. To become a certified general appraiser, experience requirements prescribed by the Appraisal Board , and you need a bachelor’s degree.

Once I am ready for the license, do I take the final 45 hour course with you or the DBPR? You can take the course with us or with any other school permitted by the DBPR.

Thanks for your interest.
