Default which states are allowed reciprocity by Florida?

I am an attorney(automatically allowed to enforce brokerage contracts in NY.
I have also held a brokerage license which I later learned was unnecessary uncless I supervised salespeople.
Am I entitled to reciprocity in Florida?

Florida and New York do not have reciprocity, so you’d have to start from the beginning in Florida. Several options are available that could apply.
  1. If you’ve had an active NY license for more than one year during the previous five years, that would count toward Florida’s experience requirement to become a broker. So you could start with the broker prelicense course and the state exam for broker.
  2. If you happen to be a member of the Florida Bar, you are not required to take the prelicense course, but must pass the state exam.

Default Reciprocity

I think there is an alternative...

I'm not 100% on this but pretty sure: New Jersey has reciprocity with New York and I think Florida has reciprocity with New Jersey. Maybe you can do something with that!

This is not correct. You may be able to get a mutual recognition (reciprocity) license by first getting a license in another state that has an agreement with Florida, but New Jersey is not one of them. For complete information regarding states that have agreements with Florida, please view our mutual recognition licensing video, and our mutual recognition requirements page.
