Hello, I am very interested in becoming a Florida Real Estate Agent. I was wondering about the online program, just curious if this is the best way to go to recieve my real estate license. If you could please email me back it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for contacting us! Getting licensed as a sales associate in Florida has never been easier thanks to online learning. The information in our online course is exactly the same as what we cover in our physical classes. The only difference is that you can work entirely at your own pace. If you ever have a question for an instructor, simply pick up the phone during our regular business hours (M-F, 9-5) and we will get you the answer that you need. You can also send an instructor an email and expect an answer back within one business day. For general questions about real estate, we have a staff which is eager to get you the answers that you need.

I have a question, given the following Florida laws:
Florida Rule 61J2-3.008, FAC says "Pre-licensure courses shall not be offered by correspondence methods, except by reason of a hardship as defined by rule." Florida Rule 61J2-3.013, FAC says "Any person desiring to complete the education course by means of distance education shall make a request to the [Florida Real Estate] Commission in writing, setting forth the basis of the alleged hardship. The Commission shall require said request to be supported by statements of doctors [concerning physical disability] and other persons having knowledge of the facts." Here are my questions: Do online courses constitute "correspondence methods" or "distance learning"? If so, does that mean only people with physical disabilities can take online courses and have them count toward pre-licensing course requirements? |

Good question. The online courses require no special hardship permit and I do not believe they technically fall under the "correspondence course" category. It is my understanding that correspondence courses refer only to written correspondence courses. Online courses fall under the "internet based" category and can be counted as a normal method of prelicense education. I'm not positive on the legal differences between the different methods of taking the course, but I am 100% positive that you can take the online course without any special permission from the Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC). All you need to worry about is whether the course you are taking is approved by the FREC (which ours is). Feel free to view our FREC approval letters and if you decide to take the course with us, you can sign up here.
