Florida Real Estate Exam Statistics - September, 2006

Candidates for Florida’s real estate exam have to work hard to pass the exam. In September, 2006, the pass rate for first-time test takers for the sales associate exam was 45 percent, so more than half of the candidates sitting for the exam were unsuccessful. Statistics show that two-thirds of the sales associate candidates retaking the exam fail. Florida’s broker candidates taking the exam for the first time did a little better, with a 48 percent pass rate. Re-takers passed 35 percent of the time. During 2005 and 2006, Florida’s pass rate fluctuated between 42 percent and 48 percent. The moral of the story? Do not underestimate the difficulty level of the state exam! Study and prepare carefully. If you don’t pass the first time, go back again as soon as possible and as often as possible before you forget what you’ve learned. On another note, Florida’s slowing real estate market has affected the number of license applicants sitting for the Florida sales associate state exam. For example, in June, 2006 the number of candidates declined by 40 percent (3,686 candidates, compared to 6,177 candidates in June of the previous year.
