Candidates for Florida’s real estate exam must study and stay focused to pass the exam. In November, 2006 the pass rate for first-time test takers for the sales associate exam was 43 percent down from October’s 47%, so only about four in ten people sitting for the exam were successful. It’s even tougher for applicants who are retesting. The statistics show that 72 percent of the sales associate candidates retaking the exam fail.Florida’s broker candidates taking the exam for the first time did a little worse, with a 41 percent pass rate. Only 37 percent of the re-takers passed.
During 2005 and 2006, Florida’s pass rate fluctuated between 42 percent and 48 percent. The moral of the story? Do not underestimate the difficulty level of the state exam! Study and prepare carefully. If you don’t pass the first time, go back again as soon as possible and as often as possible before you forget what you’ve learned. If you haven’t bought exam prep material or taken a “cram” course, perhaps you should do so.
There will be a little less new competition for existing Florida licensees. The number of license applicants sitting for the Florida sales associate state exam is declining. For example, in June, 2006 the number of candidates declined by 40 percent (3,686 candidates, compared to 6,177 candidates in June of the previous year.
